Frequently asked questions

How does receipt scanning work?

Take a photo of your receipt and Splitbean reads the items, tax, and total automatically. You can fix anything before you split. If a receipt won't scan, you can always enter items by hand.

How are tax and tip split?

Per bill, you choose: proportionally (based on each person's items) or evenly. The math is penny-accurate, so everyone's shares always add up to the exact total.

Can people without the app see what they owe?

Yes. Share a bill's link (or QR code) and anyone can open a page showing their share and pay you — no account or download required.

How do payments work?

Splitbean doesn't move money. Pay buttons open Venmo, PayPal, or Cash App prefilled with the amount, so payment happens in your app of choice. You can also mark who has paid.

Is my data private?

Your bills are visible only to you and the people on them. We don't sell data or run ads. See our Privacy Policy for details.

How do I delete my account or data?

You can delete any bill you own in the app. To delete your entire account and all associated data, email support@splitbean.app and we'll remove it.
